Brennan’s x Wes Anderson

Brand Design

For my Senior Capstone and final design project at Tulane University, I was given the opportunity to lead my own investigative research project. Tasked with combining our design knowledge with one non-design related course, I chose to focus on my Wes Anderson & World Cinema Course. I began my project with a question:

What would the design aspects of a Wes Anderson film look like, if it were to be filmed throughout the city of New Orleans?

To answer this question, I took extensive notes on the unique attributes of every Wes Anderson film. After finding a clear pattern in his cinematic style, I applied my findings to my hypothetical film, taking place in New Orleans. I explored different areas within the 504 and found one location in particular that resembled his aesthetic; the iconic New Orleans restaurant, Brennan’s. Before I could include Brennan’s in my project, the restaurants branding needed to be altered in order to fit a Wes Anderson film. Rebranding Brennan’s logo occurred at the final phase of my project, and served as a cumulative finale to my capstone.
